(Las Vegas) -Former Elected National Delegate for Bernie Sanders (NV CD-1), Real Progressive and Community Advocate Joe Sacco, a Registered Democrat who first moved to Clark County with his family in 1989, announced today his candidacy for Clark County Commission, District E. Son of a small business family, strong advocate of the poor and working-class, Sacco has served the community his entire life.
“LGBT Proud. Union Labor Strong. We must always speak truth to power,” Sacco said. “Enough is enough with this nonsensical approach of fixing problems by shifting money from lobbyists to politicians and back again. The time is now for real action that solves real issues. Talking in circles is a luxury our community cannot afford any longer.”
Joe Sacco is currently working with his core campaign team and is now conducting interviews for Internships (paid/non-paid). Qualified applicants seeking an opportunity may send resumes to: GetSmartNV@gmail.com for consideration.
JOE SACCO'S VISION FOR CLARK COUNTY:
MONEY OUT OF POLITICS IMMEDIATELY
Joe Sacco is a Real Progressive who will fundraise ethically via crowdfunding. By accepting small donations from the masses of real individual people, Sacco aims to be accountable to The People of Clark County’s District E. While other candidates continue to fundraise by catering to Special Interests, Joe Sacco will return the Power to the People of our great Community.
RESOURCES for TEACHERS & STUDENTS
With the budget surplus in Clark County Joe Sacco will make certain it gets into the actual classrooms where our educator's and youth need it. most- Teachers and Students in our Schools. Sacco will be a Real Advocate for Education in NV.
RESPECT & DIGNITY for WORKING PEOPLE
With the Las Vegas Convention Center Expansion, the Raiders Stadium and the growth of our Construction and Trades Industries, it is a critical moment in our history where Nevada Labor Organizations have the opportunity and responsibility to organize these new jobs. Joe Sacco has worked as a Union Stagehand with I.A.T.S.E. Local 720 since 2004 and knows what it takes to fight the establishment in all forms while standing with the rank-and-file workers.
IMPROVE TRANSPORTATION for ALL
Light Rail Systems and Extending the Monorail to reach where working people live and play is a wonderful idea, however we are overdue for a realistic conversation on why it has yet to happen. Wealthy neighborhoods typically have a “Nimby” (Not In My Backyard) attitude. Joe Sacco believes the real reason we are lacking in the area of mass transit is simple: Casino Owners do not have a vested interest in Poor and Working-Class people. As County Commissioner Sacco will work to take a common-sense approach on transit by connecting the county with affordable options that are accessible to all.
PARKS, CRIME & SAFETY
Around 2007 the City of Las Vegas made it illegal to share food with poor people in our public, taxpayer-supported parks as an outrageous attempt to curb homelessness while actually criminalizing those economically struggling. At that time Joe Sacco (who earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from UNLV), the ACLU and the Community went to Federal Court and got the Unconstitutional Ordinance thrown out. Advocates and scholars of poverty alike agree and have shown statistically that homeless folks are not, by default, criminals. As your County Commissioner, Sacco will advocate for better mental health and social services in order to create opportunities while addressing crime and safety concerns.
